The Growing Series conveys a progressive narrative through three brooches, each representing a distinct stage of growth: sprouting and breaking through the soil, expanding and creating cracks, and finally flourishing into maturity. This series explores the intrinsic connection between growth, resilience, and humanity, inspiring viewers to reflect on their own development and the challenges they have faced.
Rather than using precious red gemstones, the work incorporates the most ordinary of materials—small pebbles, akin to wildflowers or grass seeds. These unassuming elements symbolize the strength and vitality of life itself, demonstrating that even the most humble forms of life possess an awe-inspiring resilience. Just like humanity, every ordinary life deserves respect and celebration.
By juxtaposing the cold rigidity of silver with the organic simplicity of pebbles, this series poetically illustrates the tension between nature and human-made constructs. It celebrates the beauty and strength of life as it transforms and thrives in the face of adversity.
