Text
This piece explores the duality between the inner and outer self, likening the process of identity and self-recognition to flipping through a book. It showcases the complexity and multifaceted nature of individuals within society. Using handmade silk paper, it combines Xuan paper and silk, materials that inherently suggest unique identities. Additionally, it incorporates the texture of fingerprints, an element strongly associated with identity recognition, to create a wearable artwork. This artwork reflects both the individual‘s solid outer shell and the softness and richness of their inner world.
The artwork emphasizes the fluidity and variability of identity, encouraging deep self-exploration and recognition from both the viewer‘s and the wearer’s perspectives. It unveils the intricate process and multifaceted nature of self-awareness and understanding the world. Through this artistic medium, the work aims to provoke profound reflection and comprehension of one‘s self and identity.

Exhibition Interaction: Visitors at the exhibition can scan the NFC-enabled handmade seed paper cards I have made and take them home to plant. These small cards will be placed in the pockets of the clothing or on the table.
Whether it’s the hat, pauldrons, or clothing, the collar, pockets, hem, and back are all designed as pages of a colorful book that can be opened, and when closed, they form a monochromatic whole.
